If your resume doesn’t show this, you’re losing opportunities

Hi {{ first_name }},
I came across a resume recently that helped this candidate land a $300,000 role at Google.
And before you think it was just because of big names like Microsoft or Amazon on it, yes, that helped. But that’s not the full story.
Because I’ve seen plenty of candidates from top companies still get rejected.
What made this resume stand out was simple: it communicated impact, clearly and convincingly.
Here’s what worked:
1. Clear ownership, not just tasks
This candidate didn’t just “support” features. He led implementations, improved key flows, and solved real business problems.
For example:
- Recovered a checkout failure impacting 4,000+ customers
- Reduced call center costs by $25 million
That’s not task-based writing. That’s ownership.
2. Quantified results everywhere possible
Numbers speak louder than buzzwords. This resume highlights outcomes with clear metrics like 10M daily transactions, a 15% boost in product usage, $25M in cost savings, and code runtime under 2.2 seconds.
Instead of just listing skills, it proves real, measurable impact.
3. Side projects that actually matter
Instead of filler, the candidate showcased projects using Nginx, Docker, and Seccomp.
These weren’t just add-ons, they demonstrated initiative, depth, and real-world application.
4. A structure that works for recruiters
Clean sections. No fluff. Sharp bullet points. Relevant tools clearly listed. It made it incredibly easy to skim and instantly say, “Yes, let’s talk to this person.”
Here’s the truth most people miss:
Your resume shouldn’t just say what you did. It should prove what happened because you did it. If your resume isn’t doing that yet, it’s time to fix it. Because the right resume doesn’t just reflect your experience, it changes the direction of your job search.
Most people won’t fix this and that’s exactly why they stay stuck. Don’t be one of them. Follow on LinkedIn for the kind of insights that actually get you hired.
With you every step of the way,
