Sent 300 LinkedIn messages and no replies? Here’s why
Hi {{ first_name }},
I’ve seen job seekers send 300 messages, get 3 replies, and assume the problem is the market. It’s not. The real issue is how you’re showing up.
Getting a response from recruiters at companies like Meta, Amazon, or Google isn’t about sending more messages. It’s about being intentional with who you reach out to and how you communicate.
First, focus on reaching the right recruiters, not just any recruiter you find.
Look for:
- LinkedIn search for recruiters or hiring managers, then filter by recent posts or check job listings to see who has posted roles in the last 90 days. Focus on people who are actively posting or tagged on job openings, as they are most likely currently hiring and more likely to respond.
- Roles that align with your background: Focus on people hiring for roles that match your skills, so you’re more relevant to them.
- Active profiles: Look for people who are posting or engaging regularly on LinkedIn, as they’re more likely to respond.
These are the people most likely to respond because they’re already in hiring mode.
Next, fix how you’re messaging.
Instead of leading with “I’m looking for a job,” anchor your message in something specific and keep your positioning clear and concise.
A simple structure that works:
- Mention what caught your attention (role, post, team)
- Relate it to your experience and impact
- Close with a clear ASK to learn more
Most people skip this and sound generic. That’s why they get ignored.
If you don’t hear back, a short follow-up after a few days can make a difference. Often, it’s not a no, it’s just missed.
