FAANG won’t get you hired. Your impact will.

Hi there,

We’ve seen so many job seekers chase FAANG internships thinking they’re the golden ticket. But in 2025, just having a big brand on your resume doesn’t guarantee interviews.

Let’s be honest, many of us expected recruiters to come running after our FAANG stint, only to hear silence. No calls. No LinkedIn views. Nothing. Why? Because most resumes sound the same: “Worked on backend APIs at Amazon” or “Collaborated with engineering teams at Meta.” That might have been enough back in 2019. Not today.

What hiring managers actually want to see is:

  • What problems did we solve?

  • What did we own end-to-end?

  • What impact did our work create?

Here’s the fix: go back to that internship project and rewrite it using this simple structure:
Built X to solve Y, leading to Z outcome.

For example:
“Built a caching layer that reduced backend latency by 32% during Prime Day traffic spike.”
“Redesigned internal tool, reducing onboarding time for new engineers from 5 days to 2.”

The truth is, we won’t stand out because of the brand on our resume. We stand out because of the impact we created while being there.
